About Dorenberg Orchards

Dorenberg Orchards has been farming apples for the van Roechoudt family since 1949. Today’s award-winning Ambrosias, Gala, and Sunrise apples result from decades of family knowledge combined with cutting-edge farming techniques. They are 30 minutes north of Kelowna in Lake Country, British Columbia, Canada, with a view of Okanagan Lake.

Further, they handpick our apples with our annual staff, looking for the perfect color, ripeness, and size. Sunrise begins the apple harvest in August and continues until the conclusion of Ambrosia in mid-October.

However, they still carry their apples to the local cooperative packinghouse, where they’re sold under the BC Tree Fruits label, as the van Roechoudt family has done for three generations.

Also, their family has embraced innovative growing methods, management systems, and varieties since Louis van Roechoudt pioneered the dwarf trellis system in the Okanagan. In the 1990s, they were one of the first orchards in BC to plant the new Ambrosia apple, and they are now one of the major growers in the province.

Dorenberg Orchards has turned 10 acres of our most challenging slope to Riesling and Pinot Auxerrois wine grape cultivation in response to the rise of the Okanagan as a wine destination.
